Diagnostics
Every major repair we do starts here. Diagnosis is testing — scan data, electrical measurement, pressure and mechanical testing — that identifies the failed component instead of replacing parts until the symptom disappears.
What we diagnose
- Check engine, ABS, traction control and warning light faults
- Drivability complaints — misfire, hesitation, stalling and low power
- Transmission shift quality, slipping and limp mode
- Diesel hard start, no start, smoke and regeneration faults
- Electrical faults, parasitic battery drain and charging problems
- Overheating, coolant loss and cooling system pressure testing
- Noises, vibrations and leaks traced to their source
How we approach it
- Verify the complaint, ideally with the customer's description of when it occurs
- Pull codes and freeze frame data, then read live data under the failing condition
- Test the circuit or system directly rather than trusting the code alone
- Confirm the fault, then explain what it will take to repair it
Describe the symptom
Frequently asked questions
Is a code reader the same as diagnosis?
No. A code tells you which circuit or system reported a fault, not which part failed. Diagnosis is the testing that identifies the actual cause.
What should I tell you when I bring the vehicle in?
When it happens, how often, whether it is hot or cold, and what changed recently. Intermittent faults are far easier to find with that context.
Do you diagnose problems other shops could not solve?
Yes, and those are often the most interesting jobs. Bring any paperwork showing what has already been replaced so we do not repeat it.
