Known problems and symptoms
Different generations fail differently. LB7 injectors sit under the valve covers; LML injectors are associated with fuel system contamination when the pump fails.
Pump failure can send debris through the entire fuel system, which significantly changes repair scope.
Certain generations are more sensitive to cooling capacity, which matters in Arizona.
Variable vane turbos can stick from soot, producing low power and boost codes.
DPF, EGR and DEF system faults are common on later generations.
