GM 4.8L V8 Engine Repair & Replacement
The 4.8L is the smallest of GM's truck V8s, used as the entry V8 in half-ton pickups and some SUVs from 1999 into the 2013 model year. It shares its basic small-block design with the 5.3L but has no cylinder deactivation, which removes one common failure area. We diagnose, repair and replace 4.8L engines at our Glendale shop.

Does the 4.8L have AFM lifters?
No. The 4.8L did not use Active Fuel Management, so AFM lifter failure isn't a concern on this engine.
